Haiti is going through one of the worst of its internal conflicts. In Port-au-Prince, the capital city where most of the infrastructures are located has been unlivable due to gang activities. In rural areas like Layaille, people must count on local resources to continue their livelihoods.
Healthcare has been one of the challenges faced by everyone living in rural areas of Haiti. Having a mobile medical clinic in the area eases the pain of traveling a few hours on foot or on horseback to get healthcare.
Dr. Elisson Adrien, a Layaille native success story, has initiated this remarkable effort. Pleases consider making a tax deductible donation to help.
At the mobile clinic, we see all types of patients (infants to adults) with all types of illnesses and provide medications and referrals when needed.
Our short-term goal is to provide adequate healthcare to the people of Layaille and the surrounding areas, to hold trainings and to share hygiene products to help slow and stop the spread of waterborne diseases such as cholera that has been ravaging the rural areas.
Our long-term goal is to have a permanent clinic where we can have doctors 24/7 to care for the people and to serve as a center for healthcare outreach.
