The IC Haiti Ministry supports Layaille teachers through salary support and annual shipments of school supplies. We support the entire operation of the Notre Dame d’Altagrâce junior high and high school.
Professional Education
Young adults have inadequate opportunity for economic gain in rural Haiti. The IC Haiti Ministry built and now funds a trade school to allow young men and women to acquire skills (sewing, tailoring, carpentry, cooking, and sign-making) that provide a path to financial security. While students are charged tuition, it is not enough to cover supplies and teachers’ salaries.
Tuition Assistance
There is no free public school in Haiti. The IC Haiti Ministry supports parish students in grades K-13 with scholarships. Elementary school tuition is $50 per student/year. The cost for junior high and high school is $125 per student/year.
"In a society marred by deepening divisions between rich and poor, our Catholic tradition recalls the story of the last judgment (Mt. 25:31-46) and instructs us to put the needs of the poor and vulnerable first."
